Hi there! My name is Sammie and I’m the founder of Roots Music Therapy Services. Our story begins back home. With my sister, Trina. She has a giant smile, boundless empathy, and is blessed with some of the best friends anyone could ask for. Often when you ask Trina what she’s thinking about she’ll grin and say -- “Bobby” -- her boyfriend of 14 years.

Yet life isn’t always so simple for Trina. She has Down syndrome, which is considered an intellectual and developmental disability. Growing up alongside my sister, I saw the challenges she faced because of her special needs. I also saw her unique strengths that made me, our family, and our community better...
